It’s important not just to question the big things, but even the smallest. Because we build our beliefs about what our world is like usuing the smallest beliefs–things “taken for granted.” If you’re interested in really causing change, you must know the truth–and you only get that by truly questioning everything. Everything you’ve been taught, everything you “assume,” has the potential of being wrong. So question it for yourself. Figure it out for yourself.
Education isn’t useless–but the things we are taught aren’t always true. Learn to look at things from multiple points of view, and you’ll get wildly differing ideas about what is true.
As an example: the battle of Little Bighorn can be seen from the point of view of Custer’s soldiers, or the band of Sioux led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull. And our ideas about the battle viewed from 140 years later is different than any ideas those living at the time might have had. Can you hold more than one of these “truths” about tha battle in your mind at once? What will you learn?
