An easily dismissable, but nonetheless astute observation....

An easily dismissable, but nonetheless astute observation. Especially in these times when we see people spouting ill-reasoned and baseless consipiracy theories and outright lies all over social media–and others believing them, willing to fight for them, even–despite having devoted no real thought of their own to what they are propagating.

Real thought is hard. You have to question your sources, apply and examine real logic, solve the problems for yourself. Ideally you’ll do that from several different points of view, and compare the outcomes before passing on what you come up with.

Actually knowing your own mind–or reclaiming it–is hard. But the effort is worth it. Try to become an originator of ideas, not just a propagator of someone else’s ideas. Oscar Wilde was heavily persecuted for daring to think and act for his own true self–but he was also celebrated and made some of the great contributions of his era in the area of literature and theater. It takes real bravery to think for yourself and express what you’re thinking. Do you have what it takes?
