A meditation teacher once explained to me, “The problem for the meditator is NOT to get into trance–most of us spend most of our lives in one trance or another. The problem is getting yourself to wake up from your customary trance!”
Later on, I took a course in “Hypnotic Writing,” for people writing ads. Guess what the best way was to “hypnotize your audience?” It was to tell them a story! Weave your persuasive message into a rowsing tale, and it will go into a quite different, less resistive part of your audience’s minds than if you simply state your case.
Great presenters, great sales people–great leaders of all kinds know this. They never give you “just the facts, Ma’am,”… instead they tell stories to inspire.
Here’s another secret about using stories in your presentations: Like your audiences, you’re going to have more fun with the process, too!
