Learning to take ourselves lightly is one of the biggest gifts...

Learning to take ourselves lightly is one of the biggest gifts we can give ourselves. Here’s one thing that may help: Think back to a time when you were experiencing maximum stress. Perhaps it had to do with a relationship you had with someone–a significant other or a co-worker. Maybe you had financial difficulties and just couldn’t see a way to resolve them. Perhaps there was a difficult course you couldn’t seem to master. Whatever the situation was, it was giving you maximum stress, maximum anxiety at the time. But, looking back, the situation might provide you with a funny story, or a sense of wondering what the big deal was. Time de-fuses (and diffuses) the anxiety. You survived. Hopefully, you learned. And, with the wisdom born only of hindsight, you now see that you really didn’t have to put yourself through so much stress. A lighter attitude might even have helped you resolve the situation faster than you did at the time.

With that perspective, next time you find yourself in a completely stressful state of mind, you can simply remember the previous stressful situation, and how, somehow, you found a way through. You will know, then, that you will find a way through this time–and you might even find yourself beginning to “play” at finding that solution. As Elon Musk said of SpaceX: “Failure is and option here. It’s how we learn.” Giving up after what you’ve tried fails, though–that’s just stupid. There is always another way to try, and the truly successful just keep trying things until one succeeds. That’s The Wizard’s Way!
